Interesting New Writing Project for Me
Could shared automated vehicles make transportation more equitable? Sustainable? Safer? Could they reduce traffic? How will they affect our cities?
These are some of the questions the Center for Transportation Studies, University of Minnesota aims to answer in a huge National Science Foundation-funded research project. I’m proud to say that I’ll be writing a synthesis report on this new work to help policymakers to get their arms around the implications. They have some important decisions to make now to ensure that SAVs will serve everyone and not make traffic and social inequity worse. The researchers’ results, projections and advice are fascinating.
Thanks to CTS for inviting me to write the report. It will come out later this summer, and I’ll be sure to share it then. In the meantime, you can read all about connected, automated vehicles on the CTS website.
